Our first Saturday in Germany...

For those of you who would like to be able to text us while we are in Germany check out "whats app". I've already down loaded it on my phone just waiting for someone else  to down load it so I can try it out. It's free and  only works with smartphones.

We did a bit of cruising around Germany today with another teacher and his wife. We had a wonderful time and had a chance to take a few pictures.
This picture is from a village close to the one we will be living in

This is an entry into an old village that is surrounded by walls

There are paths for walking and biking connecting most of the little villages together, most have benches along the paths

This is a village that is nicknamed Little Switzerland

The pictures  below are for the Dunlaps, anyone recognize these...

  1. Great pictures, Jen! Sounds like you are settling in. How is the standard of living in comparison to our area of the USA? Looks like lots of the signs are in English. Will the boys have a chance to take German or will they just learn it on the "fly"?

  2. The standard of living is pretty comparable to the Buffalo area. The only place there are signs in English is on the US military bases. The last picture is of a bowling alley on the base that William's Dad was stationed quite a few years ago. Off base everything is in German. The street signs are very different from the US. One of the boys "specials" at school is called Host Nation and they will learn German and about the culture. Josef will be my translator.

  3. I so want to visit! It looks so beautiful, calm, and peaceful! Not the concrete jungles we are living in!

  4. You know you are welcomed anytime Penny! I haven't been near a big city like Munich yet but where I've been it has been very calm and peaceful. No hustle and bustle. Even on base everyone is pretty laid back too.
